The Navy Reserve Forces Command (RESFOR) Case Study
Challenges
The Navy Reserve Forces Command (RESFOR) of the United States Navy was challenged to redesign their out of date website which was poorly maintained from a content and technological stand point, and was not considered a valuable source for their audience, the Navy Reservist.
Solutions
Vision House:
- Created a design that was visually appealing but more importantly easily navigated.
- Included Web 2.0 functionality to encourage interactivity among reservist.
- Embedded Google Analytics to study the site's performance.
- Built the site on the Microsoft Sharepoint content management system enabling the ease ongoing maintenance.
- Created a marketing plan to reinforce the new site as the "one source" for all reservists.
Results
- As of July, 2009, returning traffic made up 66% of visits to the site telling us that reservists are using the site as a resource.
- Because of the promotional announcements as well as the natural search optimization, website traffic increased by 400% in the first three months.
- Realizing the importance of this resource for reservists as a result of the hard data, RESFOR has allocated a small department dedicated to the maintenance and future improvements of the website.
